Meet Mei Ling

Mei Ling Ellis is the founder of BALANCE IN BREATH. Mei Ling has been involved in movement her entire life from taking Judo as a child to studying Tae Kwon Do as a young adult. She found yoga in college and has been practicing for over 23 years now. Given some injuries from martial arts, Mei Ling has shifted her movement to yoga and rock climbing. She also has a personal medication practice rooted in Vipassana.

She currently teaches weekly public classes at various yoga studios in the Seattle area, offers multiple workshops annually, provides private yoga sessions to individuals, offers yoga to corporations, and instructs introduction and advanced yoga college courses. When not teaching yoga and mindfulness Mei Ling works as an independent research and evaluation consultant based out of Seattle, WA.

Teaching philosophy

Mei Ling's teaching philosophy supports students to move their bodies with integrity, alignment, and strength so they may continue to be physically active throughout their lifespan. She appreciates the uniqueness of every ability, body, and culture. Mei Ling weaves together a combination of mindfulness, the physical practice of yoga, breath work, and nidra to reduce stress; and improve emotional regulation, and clarity with those whom she works with.

Her experience as a clinical practitioner informs how she supports and guides students along their path and her work as an applied researcher fuels her continual education of the mind-body connection.
